PESHAWAR: A quadcopter attack in the Bakakhel area of Bannu district on Tuesday led to one fatality and four injuries, according to police reports.
Bannu District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Furqan Bilal confirmed that terrorists deployed an explosive device from a quadcopter within the Baka Khel Police Station jurisdiction.
The incident caused immediate casualties, with one individual losing their life and four others, including a minor, sustaining injuries. The wounded were swiftly transported to Bannu District Headquarters Hospital for treatment, as stated by authorities.
In response, Assistant Commissioner Sajjad Hussain and former provincial minister Malik Shah Muhammad Khan visited the hospital to assess the injured and expressed condolences to the affected families.
DPO Bilal noted that recent anti-drone operations and strengthened security protocols at police stations, checkpoints, and sensitive locations had previously prevented multiple attacks on law enforcement and security personnel.
However, the terrorists reportedly shifted their focus to civilian targets in an attempt to instill fear and disorder within the local community.
Separately, a bridge on the CPEC Circular Road in Saidgi, Baka Khel, was destroyed by an explosion, causing traffic disruptions in the region, as per local reports.
On Sunday, a suspected quadcopter attack in Lower South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulted in three female fatalities and four injuries within a single family.
