TAIPEI — Huawei announced on Monday that it has entered into a cross-licensing agreement with Qualcomm, marking the first time the U.S.-based chipmaker will pay Huawei for the use of its intellectual property. The deal focuses on critical advancements in 5G and artificial intelligence technologies.
While the agreement represents a significant victory for Huawei’s IP portfolio, the arrangement will be subject to regulatory scrutiny and approval from U.S. authorities before it can be fully implemented.
