Rachel Brookes Announces Departure from Sky Sports F1 Coverage

Rachel Brookes, a longtime Formula 1 presenter for Sky Sports, has confirmed her departure from the network effective immediately.

She joined Sky Sports in 2009 and became a key member of its Formula 1 team after the broadcaster secured the UK rights in 2012.

Brookes is widely recognized for her driver interviews in the media paddock, establishing herself as one of the most prominent faces of Sky’s F1 coverage, traveling to Grands Prix worldwide.

Although she confirmed her exit from the team, Brookes indicated she will remain involved in the sport and plans to attend next week’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone.

Brookes shared on social media: “After many years at Sky I am moving on to exciting new ventures and looking forward to what comes next. I have left the Sky F1 team, but Formula 1 remains close to my heart, so I will stay involved in the sport. I’ll keep you updated—see you at Silverstone!”

Sky has been a cornerstone of Formula 1 broadcasting in the modern era, initially securing the full season rights in 2012, a move that reduced the BBC’s coverage to half of the races.

In 2016 the BBC handed its rights over to Channel 4, a deal that lasted until 2018; since 2019 the free‑to‑air broadcaster has aired only the British Grand Prix live each year.

This arrangement is expected to persist for years to come, especially after Sky recently renewed its United Kingdom contract through at least 2034, while its Italian agreement runs until 2032.
