The Raiders held practice Wednesday without two of their key offensive players. Quarterback Kirk Cousins and running back Ashton Jeanty were both absent from the session, according to reports from multiple reporters on site.

Jeanty is dealing with an ankle injury, while the reason for Cousins’ absence remains unclear. The quarterback was spotted on the field before the media viewing period ended, wearing a red jersey and a baseball cap, which may indicate he is simply receiving a scheduled rest day.

Rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza took the first-team reps in Cousins’ absence. With limited practice time remaining before the regular season begins, this situation provides Mendoza an opportunity to gain valuable experience as the team prepares for their season opener against the Dolphins on September 13.

Head coach Klint Kubiak is scheduled to speak with the media following practice.
