Rangers have secured a season-long loan for former Everton defender Ben Godfrey from Atalanta, with an option to make the transfer permanent next summer.
Sky Sports News reported on Sunday that the 28‑year‑old completed a Rangers medical ahead of his move from the Serie A club.
Godfrey becomes Rangers’ third summer signing following the arrivals of Lawrence Shankland and Ross McCrorie.
The England international joined Atalanta from Everton in summer 2024 and has since spent time on loan at Ipswich Town, Sheffield United and Brøndby.
Upon signing for Rangers, Godfrey said: “I’m buzzing, I’m really happy to be here. I know the size of the club, so it’s a massive honour to wear the shirt this season, and I can’t wait to get started.”
“I’m looking forward to meeting the teammates and hopefully helping the club achieve what it deserves—silverware and exciting times.”
Rangers manager Derek McInnes added: “Ben is a player who has competed at a very high level throughout his career. He’s played in the Premier League, been involved with England, and brings a wealth of experience.”
“He’s a strong, athletic defender with good qualities both on and off the ball, and we believe he can add a lot to the squad. We’re pleased to have him in, and I look forward to working with him over the coming season.”
