The Baltimore Ravens have been actively pursuing a contract extension for quarterback Lamar Jackson following previous discussions since January. With himself serving as his own agent, the two-time MVP has made clear that he is seeking a new professional arrangement.
Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta stated Wednesday that he is “optimistic” about finalizing a contract extension with Jackson before the March deadline. Via video from ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, DeCosta remarked, “I’m optimistic. I feel good about it.”
DeCosta maintained discretion regarding specific financials, citing the unique status of these talks since Jackson does not employ an agent. “I really don’t like to get into details,” he said. “We maintain a personal pact—I have said this numerous times—that we will not discuss business publicly. It is a distinct form of negotiation.”
Regardless of the formalities, Jackson’s current contract package consists of five years totaling $260 million, with approximately two years remaining. For the upcoming season in 2027, the projected cap hit stands at $84.34 million.
