Ticket sales have already surpassed the previous record for a Women’s T20 World Cup, standing at approximately 220,000. The ICC aims to exceed 300,000, which would nearly double the attendance of the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
Although Friday’s attendance at Birmingham was encouraging, the Edgbaston venue was not completely sold out.
A crowd of roughly 8,000 is anticipated at Old Trafford on Saturday for a doubleheader featuring Ireland versus Scotland and Australia versus South Africa.
Unlike the 2017 50‑over Women’s World Cup in England, this tournament is being held at the nation’s largest cricket venues, offering ample capacity to fill.
Tickets remain available for Sunday’s headline match between India and Pakistan at Edgbaston, as well as for several of England’s other fixtures and most non‑England matches.
It is hoped that England’s impressive victory on Friday — featuring Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s unbeaten 105 runs and an 87‑run win — will stimulate further ticket sales.
After the win, Wyatt-Hodge said, “The atmosphere was incredible; the crowd cheered me on and gave me goosebumps. I hope viewers on television are inspired to attend the matches live.”
