Pan unseated incumbent Kevin Kiley in California’s 6th Congressional District by a 15-percentage-point margin, according to results reported Wednesday morning. The victory adds another Chinese-American member to the U.S. House ahead of the 120th Congress convening in January.
“I am proud to be part of the growing Asian-American representation in Congress,” Pan said in a statement to the South China Morning Post. “I look forward to advancing that work by lowering costs for working families, protecting access to healthcare, defending our democracy, and ensuring the Asian-American community has more champions in Washington.”
