Referee Injured in Match Disruptions
A referee sustained injuries during a match incident involving French club Metz and Fortuna Sittard of the Netherlands.
Mathilde Demoncay, reportedly injured during the altercation, had to leave the field after being knocked down while attempting to de-escalate a confrontation between players.
The incident occurred in the 40th minute following a shirt-tugging dispute between opposing athletes, prompting further player involvement in the conflict.
Demoncay fell heavily during the melee and remained on the pitch for several minutes, gripping her arm as assistant referees, security personnel, and medical staff intervened to assess her condition.
Though briefly returning to her duties as an assistant referee after play resumed, she exited the field at halftime, with a replacement official assuming her responsibilities.
The match concluded with Metz securing a 3-1 victory.
