Three of the most popular free downloadable packs for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are collectively known as Alternative Looks. They introduce new wardrobes for the three core characters—Ciri, Triss, and Yennefer—and are bundled with the Witcher 3: Complete Edition.
Unlike most expansions that add new areas or quests, the Alternative Looks are applied directly from the game’s menu. To change a character’s appearance, simply open the gameplay options and toggle the desired look.
How To Change Outfits With Alternative Looks
To activate any of the Alternative Looks, launch the Gameplay tab from the main menu, scroll to the bottom of the list, and toggle the relevant option. Each look functions independently, allowing you to mix and match—for example, swap Yennefer’s outfit while keeping Ciri’s unchanged.
Once enabled, the character models update accordingly: Ciri wears a sleek chainmail robe, Triss sports green robes with intricate gold details, and Yennefer dons a clean black dress. Since their release between May and July 2015, these outfit options have been embraced by fans and inspired countless cosplay recreations.
Other Alternate Appearances in Witcher 3
After the Netflix adaptation’s success, a new DLC added a fresh quest and several Netflix‑inspired alternate appearances. Players can activate these directly from the menu, including a revised look for Dandelion and a Nilfgaardian armor set matching the show’s aesthetic.
Dandelion adopts a more subdued green tunic, omitting the goatee, while Nilfgaardian troops wear the textured armor seen in season jäsen. These options provide a distinct flavor for the characters, though they remain optional.
Geralt also received free DLC over the years, but his Netflix armor is unlocked only by completing a dedicated quest from the next‑generation update, In the Eternal Fire’s Shadow. The quest begins at Devil’s Pit in Velen, just southeast of the Hanged Man’s Tree. After navigating a short dungeon and a challenging boss fight, players are tasked with locating the Forgotten Wolf School Gear, which is revealed through a series of hidden locations and crafting recipes.
