A 20-year-old waste collector in eastern China has garnered widespread online attention after her potential as a model was spotted by Lu Xianren, the self-made “village supermodel” who shares a similarly humble upbringing.
Known by the online alias Chaoren Leng—translating to “Superman Leng”—the young woman helps manage her boyfriend’s father’s refuse collection business in Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, according to Shenzhen TV.
Born Leng Minghui in a village in Fuyang, Anhui Province, she first captured the internet’s imagination last July through videos documenting her daily routine at the sorting station. Viewers were struck by the contrast between her industrial surroundings and her physical stature: at 1.81 metres tall and weighing 50 kilograms, her tall, slender frame and defined facial features align closely with high-fashion industry standards.
Despite the sudden surge of interest and encouragement to pursue modelling full-time, Leng has declined the opportunity, opting to continue her work at the station.
