Rehabilitated Green Sea Turtle ‘Jurassic’ Released Back into Atlantic After Recovery

An adult male green sea turtle named Jurassic returned to the Atlantic Ocean on Wednesday following months of rehabilitation at the Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Florida.

Discovered stranded and lethargic last month, the turtle was diagnosed with abnormal buoyancy caused by gas accumulation in his gastrointestinal tract. After a successful recovery, staff and volunteers carried Jurassic to the beach and released him into the surf as dozens of onlookers cheered.

A satellite tracker affixed to his shell will allow researchers to monitor his movements and reintegration into the wild.
