Bethesda has officially confirmed the upcoming remastered editions of the classic Fallout titles, including Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, though a specific release date has yet to be disclosed.
Recent years have seen considerable speculation regarding updated versions of Fallout: New Vegas (2010) and Fallout 3 (2008). Fallout Creative Director Todd Howard hinted at Bethesda working on fan-requested projects but provided no specifics. Earlier this year, a cryptic countdown tied to the Amazon Prime Video Fallout series left fans expecting remaster announcements, which ultimately did not materialize.
In a recent social media announcement, Bethesda confirmed the development of remastered editions for Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3. The company stated, “We know many players want to revisit previous Fallout experiences. While we’re not announcing any dates today, we have been working on remasters for both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas.”

The company emphasized that Fallout remains a top priority, with Fallout 5 as the long-term goal and multiple projects underway. They confirmed that New Vegas developers Obsidian Entertainment are also working on a new Fallout title. Additionally, Bethesda announced that the prequel Raven Rock from Fallout 3 will be integrated into Fallout 76 next year.
In 2022, Howard stated that Fallout 5 would follow The Elder Scrolls 6 in development. Despite the recent Amazon Prime Video Fallout adaptation’s success, this timeline remains unchanged. Bethesda clarified that Fallout 5 is in preproduction, while The Elder Scrolls 6 is the primary focus. They noted that Skyrim continues to attract players 15 years after its release, and the next chapter in the series is in active development, with daily progress being made. Reports suggest The Elder Scrolls 6 will not launch before 2028.
Separately, the Game of Thrones adaptation War For Westeros has been postponed to 2027, aiming to deliver the highest quality experience.
