A fragile rapprochement between China and India is confronting a fresh test after reports emerged of military standoffs along the two Asian neighbours’ hotly contested frontier. In recent remarks, Shatrujeet Kapur, director general of the Indo‑Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), confirmed that “confrontations with Chinese troops were continuing at multiple locations along the Arunachal Pradesh border.” He added, “In the past few days, a situation arose where face‑offs happened at several locations in Arunachal and it still continues,” during a military ceremony on Thursday, as cited by The Hindu.
