Jacob Elordi, Jenna Ortega, and Stephen Fry are among 529 creative professionals invited to join this year’s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences membership class.
“We are delighted to invite this remarkable group of film artists and professionals from around the world to join the Academy,” said CEO Bill Kramer and Academy president Lynette Howell Taylor. “Their commitment to filmmaking makes this year’s exceptionally talented class a significant contribution to the global movie industry.”
Elordi earned his first Oscar nomination earlier this year for his transformative portrayal of the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Ortega has enjoyed a hot streak, setting record viewership figures for the Wednesday series and securing an upcoming role in the film adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s Klara and the Sun.
Fry, a seasoned actor best known for his British television work, has also featured in more than a dozen Hollywood productions, including Gosford Park, V for Vendetta, and Love & Friendship. He received a Golden Globe nomination for best actor for the 1998 film Wilde and has hosted the BAFTA Awards twelve times.
The class also includes Teyana Taylor, who was nominated in the best supporting actress category but lost to Amy Madigan for Weapons. Josh O’Connor, known for Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, was recently seen in Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day.
Other invitees include Mia Goth, Elordi’s co‑star in Frankenstein, and Jon Bernthal, who recently appeared in Broadway’s Dog Day Afternoon and is slated for summer releases such as Spider‑Man: Brand New Day and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
Additional inductees encompass weapons director and actor Zach Cregger, actress Julia Garner, co‑directors Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang of KPop Demon Hunters, and singer‑songwriter Ejae.
If all invitations are accepted, Academy membership would rise to 11,319, with 10,338 voting members. The voting body would then represent 36% women, 25% from under‑represented communities, and 22% international members.
The Oscars have recently announced rule changes for the 2027 awards season, banning acting and writing categories for work produced with artificial intelligence and allowing performers to receive multiple nominations in the same category.
Last year, the Academy welcomed Stephen Graham, Jodie Comer, and Ariana Grande to its ranks.
