Vince Russo Possibly Joins WWE Creative Team After Quiet Talks with Nick Khan
A recent column by Conrad Thompson in Uncrowned hinted at “whispers” suggesting Vince Russo was participating in talks with WWE staff regarding a potential return to the creative team. The same report indicated that those discussions may have never progressed beyond early stages.
Fightful Select has uncovered reports that multiple individuals at WWE Headquarters were briefed on conversations between Nick Khan and Vince Russo. However, the exact nature and significance of those discussions remain unclear. Sources noted that Russo was either on-site at WWE or under consideration for a visit at the time.
Notably, the reported discussions between Khan and Russo were not communicated to the broader WWE organization. Nobody from the WWE staff—including agents, producers, writers, or other road crew members—was aware of these talks, though some influential figures dismissed the rumors.
As of this writing, neither Russo himself nor any WWE representative has issued a public statement regarding the situation.
Vince Russo served as WWE’s head writer beginning in 1997 and played a pivotal role in the Authority Era that ultimately contributed to WWE’s success against WCW during the Monday Night Wars. After leaving WWE in late 1999 to join WCW as head writer, he later returned to TNA in 2002 as part of their creative team. His tenure at TNA ended in October 2011 when he was replaced in the creative role, though he subsequently resumed a consulting capacity before departing permanently in July 2014.
Most recently, Russo was part of the creative team for Juggalo Championship Wrestling, where he departed after just a year, publicly stating at age 65 that his outlook and perspective had shifted considerably over the years.
He currently hosts a podcast with Jonathan Coachman called The Coach and Bro Show.
