Fintech firm Ripple unveiled two initiatives on Thursday to bolster its dollar‑backed stablecoin, RLUSD, as the token’s transfer volume fell by 25% this month.
The first is Ripple Mint, a platform enabling institutional customers to create, redeem, bridge, and track RLUSD via a web dashboard or direct integration.
Historically, minting RLUSD—issuing new tokens against dollar deposits—required manual coordination with Ripple. The new APIs allow firms to automate minting and redemption from their own systems and monitor each transaction from dollar transfer to on‑chain settlement.
Ripple has expanded RLUSD’s availability beyond the XRP Ledger and Ethereum to include the XRPL EVM sidechain, Base, Optimism, Ink, and Unichain, increasing the number of networks where the token can circulate.
Separately, Ripple announced late Thursday a strategic investment in Notabene, a compliance network that integrates RLUSD into its business‑payments platform, positioning the token for use by institutions that send and receive it.
Thus, while Mint aims to simplify the creation and management of RLUSD, Notabene is built to facilitate its movement through institutional payment rails.
