The St. Louis Blues have officially appointed one of their foundational players as captain ahead of the 2026-27 NHL season.
Forward Robert Thomas has been designated as the 25th captain in franchise history, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The team also revealed that Colton Parayko, Philip Broberg, Jake Neighbours, and Dylan Holloway will serve as assistant captains for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.
Brayden Schenn previously held the captaincy for the Blues but was traded to the New York Islanders before the trade deadline last season on March 6, 2026. Thomas had previously served as an alternate captain.
The 27-year-old has led the Blues in scoring over the past three seasons and is coming off a point-per-game performance with 25 goals and 64 points across 64 games. Thomas is just a few years removed from a career-high 26-goal, 86-point campaign during the 2023-24 season.
Selected as a first-round pick by the Blues at 20th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft, Thomas made his debut in 2018-19, recording nine goals and 33 points in 70 regular-season games as a rookie. He subsequently contributed to the Blues’ first-ever Stanley Cup championship that same season.

The Aurora, Ontario native is entering his ninth season with the Blues, having suited up for 530 games, accumulating 132 goals and 328 assists.
Regarding the alternate captains, Parayko, Broberg, and Neighbours previously wore the ‘A’ for the team, while Holloway is a new addition to the Blues’ leadership group.
Parayko ranks third all-time in games played with the franchise and has played his entire 11-season NHL career with the Blues since being selected in the third round of the 2012 NHL Draft.
Broberg and Holloway each joined the Blues ahead of the 2024-25 season after accepting offer sheets while under contract with the Edmonton Oilers. Broberg was named an alternate captain following the trade deadline after Schenn was dealt.
