LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Colorado Rockies removed All-Star DH Hunter Goodman from Tuesday night’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Originally slated to serve as the team’s designated hitter, Goodman was pulled after sustaining a left‑hand contusion. X‑ray examinations revealed no fracture, and he is being listed as day‑to‑day.
The injury occurred on Monday night during an 8‑7, 11‑inning loss in the series opener. While sliding home with a potential go‑ahead run in the top of the ninth, Goodman jammed his wrist after a play that was initially ruled safe but later overturned on a Dodgers replay challenge.
Mickey Moniak was inserted as the new designated hitter, while Braxton Fulford took over behind the plate, Goodman’s customary position.
Goodman, who was selected to the All‑Star team for the second consecutive year, has hit 27 home runs this season.
