Former India wicketkeeper Saba Karim believes Rohit Sharma’s century in the ODI series against England has silenced speculation surrounding his future, but says India’s biggest concern heading into the 2027 World Cup should be finding a reliable pace attack when Jasprit Bumrah is unavailable.

Speaking on JioHotstar’s Match Centre Live after England clinched the three-match series 2-1 with a 27-run win at Lord’s, Karim highlighted India’s batting unit as largely effective, with Rohit Sharma, captain Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli standing out as positives.

Karim emphasized that India must now prioritize identifying a dependable fast-bowling combination in matches where Bumrah is unavailable, noting that young pace bowlers struggled in the series.

“India’s focus should shift to securing a consistent pace attack if Bumrah is unavailable. Our inexperienced fast bowlers faced challenges in these conditions,” Karim stated.

The upcoming ODI tour of New Zealand will serve as a critical test for India to refine these combinations before major ICC events.

Carmen also stressed the need for a wrist spinner capable of taking wickets in the middle overs, suggesting options like Kuldeep Yadav could be explored based on opposition demands.

Former India batter Cheteshwar Pujara commended Rohit’s mental strength during his century, noting his calm demeanor amid intense external pressure.
