The General Insurance has unveiled its “Give People a Break” campaign, recruiting WWE Champion Roman Reigns to portray Street Fighter’s iconic Akuma. The collaboration aligns with the upcoming film adaptation, in which Reigns will bring the character to life alongside Cody Rhodes as Guile.
Slated for an October 16 theatrical release, the Street Fighter movie provides the backdrop for The General’s playful take on common insurance frustrations. The ad contrasts battling a formidable fighter with dealing with an unhelpful insurance provider, positioning The General as the easier alternative.
As Akuma, Reigns demonstrates that while life can feel like a fight, car insurance doesn’t have to be one. “At The General, giving people a break isn’t just something we say. It’s the lens we use to think about how we can make insurance easier for our customers,” said Chauncey Citchens, director of marketing.
The campaign was developed with BBDO Chicago and will launch across TV, digital, and social media channels.
