Roman Reigns’ Broader Appeal Debated Amid WWE Dominance
<p>Roman Reigns is undeniably one of WWE’s biggest stars, yet MVP suggests the OTC still lacks mainstream appeal.</p>
<p>During the latest episode of his “Marking Out” podcast, MVP examined Reigns’ position in WWE and compared his popularity beyond wrestling to that of industry icons such as John Cena, The Rock, and Steve Austin. While acknowledging Reigns’ drawing power, he questioned whether the current World Heavyweight Champion has attained comparable mainstream recognition.</p>

<p>The conversation began by referencing Conrad Thompson’s earlier comment that Reigns was an “industry plant.”</p>
<p>‘I can at least understand his point, because historically the biggest wrestling stars — such as John Cena, The Rock, and Stone Cold — had a mainstream crossover appeal. You didn’t need to watch wrestling to recognize them, and their fame extended far beyond the ring,’ MVP explained.</p>
<p>MVP clarified that he was not diminishing Reigns’ achievements; he was simply highlighting the distinction between being a prominent figure among wrestling fans and achieving broad, mainstream stardom.</p>
<p>‘I don’t necessarily view Roman Reigns as possessing the same level of popularity outside wrestling, but the figures indicate otherwise regarding his star power and drawing ability within the sport,’ MVP noted.</p>
<p>Nevertheless, MVP emphatically supported the OTC’s capacity to attract WWE fans.</p>
<p>‘If you stage a show in a venue and a WWE event is booked without Roman Reigns on the card, you might sell around 20,000 tickets; adding a promise that he will appear can boost sales by roughly 5,000 more,’ MVP said.</p>
<p>MVP pushed back against Conrad Thompson’s label of Reigns as an “industry plant,” asserting that WWE management has consistently been instrumental in cultivating its top stars.</p>
<p>The Hurt Syndicate member believes Reigns could further expand his profile beyond wrestling and predicted he might follow The Rock’s path into acting.</p>
<p>‘Roman is on track to become a movie star, just like The Rock. He possesses the presence, good looks, and charisma needed for acting and television stardom,’ MVP asserted.</p>
