Rollyn Romero and Teofimo Lopez have agreed to contest the WBA welterweight title on August 22 in Las Vegas.
The agreement was reached directly between Lopez’s camp and DAZN, bypassing conventional promotional negotiations. During Saturday night’s broadcast, Lopez confirmed that his next opponent will be Romero.
The bout had been under discussion for several days, and this is the first official confirmation that both parties have finalized terms. Romero will defend the WBA welterweight title he captured earlier this year, while Lopez will move up to challenge for a world title at 147 pounds.
An official announcement with venue details is expected soon, but the fight is slated for August 22 in Las Vegas. The matchup pits two outspoken former world champions against each other and is anticipated to be one of the summer’s premier DAZN events.
