The Carolina Hurricanes altered their goaltending lineup for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Rookie Brandon Bussi received his first playoff start as the Hurricanes aimed to tie the series at 2‑2 in Las Vegas, a decision announced shortly before tip‑off.
ESPN reported that veteran netminder Frederik Andersen, who posted a 12‑1 record in the team’s first three playoff series, was a healthy scratch and not listed with an injury.
Andersen had allowed four second‑period goals in Saturday’s Game 3 loss and was replaced by Bussi at the start of the third period. Bussi stopped 18 of 19 shots as the Hurricanes rallied, ultimately falling 5‑4 in double overtime.
Acquired off waivers from the Florida Panthers in October, Bussi entered the season without NHL experience but has become a key part of Carolina’s goalie rotation, compiling a 31‑6‑2 record with a 2.47 goals‑against average and a .895 save percentage.
