RSM UK, an audit, tax and consulting firm, has hired Chris Mayo as a partner to bolster its financial services risk and governance team.

In his new role, Mayo will lead the financial services internal audit business across London and the South East.

He will help clients navigate regulatory change, strengthen risk management, and support sustainable growth.

Mayo said: “The best assurance functions don’t just identify risk; they help organisations make better decisions, respond confidently to change, and support long-term success. I look forward to working with new clients at RSM, helping them build governance and assurance that goes beyond meeting regulatory requirements by adding real value to the business.”

Mayo brings more than 20 years of experience across the financial services sector.

He previously served as head of audit quality, methods and platform at Lloyds Banking Group and group chief internal auditor at Shawbrook Bank.

Earlier in his career, he held senior positions at Deloitte and EY, advising financial institutions on governance, assurance, and internal audit transformation.

Alex Tait, head of risk and governance at RSM UK, said: “Chris’ appointment is a real coup for the firm’s financial services risk and governance team. His blend of in-house experience and understanding of the advisory landscape positions him strongly to support clients navigating the ever-evolving regulatory landscape of financial services and implementing effective risk management frameworks.”

In July this year, RSM UK bolstered its debt advisory offering by appointing George Fieldhouse and Alex Dugay as partners.
