Russian strike hits rail workers in new deadly attacks on Kyiv

A total of 12 fatalities and 17 injuries were recorded in overnight Russian missile and drone strikes targeting Kyiv and the wider Ukrainian territory, according to official sources.

Six of the eight wounded belonged to Ukrzaliznytsia’s railway workforce after a locomotive depot suffered damage; fires erupted in three city districts. In the nearby town of Boryspil, four civilians were killed when a residential building was struck.

Russian authorities described the operation as a massive strike employing high‑precision missiles and unmanned drones directed at Ukraine’s military‑industrial and energy infrastructure.

An additional Russian civilian perished during Ukrainian counter‑strikes in Western Belgorod, as Governor Alexander Shuvaev reported.

Tuesday morning, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that roughly 350 rescue workers continued to work throughout the night across Kyiv and adjacent boroughs after the latest bombardment.

He noted on social media that Russian forces launched a substantial cache of jet‑drone aircraft along with ballistic missiles.

These attacks target eight other Ukrainian oblasts, according to the president, who also referred to an Indian national among the victims.

The current wave follows a separate incident where 38 people were killed at a Kyiv suburb arms depot on Friday, when munitions, sabotage charges, and UASs detonated.

The confrontations unfold amid Russia’s full‑scale invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022.

Earlier that week, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on Vladimir Putin to cease hostilities, warning that each day of fighting erodes global advancement.

He added that India relies heavily on cheaply priced oil imports from Moscow.
