Rescue teams combed the waters on Thursday for seven missing sailors after a pair of drone attacks struck chemical tankers near Romania’s Black Sea coastline, igniting the vessels and reviving urgent questions about maritime security along a critical artery for Ukrainian exports. In an interview with FRANCE 24’s Europe editor Armen Georgian, Nicolae Ştefanuță – a Romanian Member of the European Parliament and Co-Chair of the Greens group – warned that the Danube Delta region now faces a heightened threat from Russia compared to the Baltic states. “It is clear that sooner or later we will have European casualties,” he cautioned, underscoring mounting concerns over the spillover effects of ongoing hostilities in the Black Sea.
