The death toll from a Russian strike on a cargo ship off the coast of Odesa has risen to 10.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the Guinea-Bissau-flagged vessel was struck by Russian cruise missiles on Sunday, triggering a fire aboard.
A search and rescue mission conducted overnight recovered nine crew members and one pilot who died in the attack, confirmed by Ukraine’s seaports authority on Monday.
The Odesa region has faced intensified Russian attacks in recent weeks, with regional governor Oleh Kiper reporting 28 fatalities from strikes in July.
Attacks on commercial vessels in the Black Sea have become more frequent, with Sunday’s strike on the Golden Leo being the deadliest recorded.
