Sam Fender & Olivia Dean’s Chart-Topping Collaboration Sets New British Record with #1 Single “Rein Me In”
Olivia Dean’s career has surged rapidly, culminating in her first Grammy win for Best New Artist earlier this year. Now, her collaboration with Sam Fender on “Rein Me In” has etched its name into UK chart history by becoming the longest-running #1 single by British artists.
The track has dominated the top spot for 16 consecutive weeks, surpassing Wet Wet Wet’s 1994 classic “Love Is All Around” and matching Bryan Adams’ 1991 record-breaking hit “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You.” The duo’s achievement solidifies their place among the UK’s most enduring chart acts.
In a candid social media video shared with Official Charts, Sam Fender expressed his astonishment, admitting, “I’m sweating profusely and buzzing to announce that ‘Rein Me In’ is the longest-running British single at #1 of all time. I’ve never had a #1 single before… and the fact that we did it together made it even sweeter. Every week feels surreal—Friday inevitably turns into a festive celebration, but honestly, I might’ve died of excitement already.”
Released last June as a remix of Fender’s solo version from his album People Watching, the song benefits from Dean’s own chart prowess—her earlier 2023 single “Man I Need” also reached #1 in the UK. Witness the duo’s electrifying rise in action below.
