Samsung Integrates Solana Blockchain for USDC Transfers Across 82 Million Galaxy Devices
Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay will support stablecoins on the Solana network, enabling U.S. users to send USDC across borders starting the last week of October, the Solana Foundation announced on Wednesday.
The functionality, which also extends to Samsung Pay, will launch on 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices. These phones include built-in fiat on- and off-ramps that facilitate conversions between USDC and local currencies, with Solana’s ecosystem handling transactions behind the scenes.

“Stablecoins have the potential to make moving money around the world faster and easier, and we want Galaxy users to be able to take advantage of that without having to navigate the complexity of traditional crypto tools,” said Woncheol Chai, head of the digital wallet team at Samsung Electronics’ mobile business.
“Samsung’s decision to work with Solana puts digital dollars into everyday life through one of the world’s most trusted technology brands,” said Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation.
Samsung’s Stablecoin Initiatives
At its Galaxy Unpacked event in London last July, Samsung disclosed that Samsung Wallet would introduce native stablecoin support. A prototype mockup displaying USDC was shown during the presentation, although the specific launch timeline, issuer, or blockchain platform had not yet been confirmed at that stage.
While the release identifies Solana and USDC as primary providers, it does not specify whether Circle acts as a partner, whether users can retain their own private keys, or what the costs associated with transfers might involve.
Stablecoin activity on Solana has seen significant growth, with supply rising by nearly 20% year-over-year. According to the Foundation, the network processed over $5.25 trillion in stablecoin volume in 2026 alone, with enterprise entities such as PayPal and Western Union already leveraging Solana for these purposes. Visa has also established settlements using USDC on the Solana blockchain.
Samsung has maintained a strong presence in the blockchain space for its Galaxy line, launching its dedicated wallet in 2019 and subsequently integrating credentials like Coinbridge prior to recent announcements; last October, the company incorporated Coinbase into Samsung Wallet for 75 million U.S. users.
Solana Mobile, the network’s smartphone-focused segment, has continued expanding with new releases, including the Saga framework in 2023 and the Seeker model last year. It notably issued its SKR token exclusively to Seeker participants rather than Saga users.
“99% of people believed that [Yakovenko]’s initiatives involving phones were irrelevant. I held the same perspective initially,” wrote Kyle Samani, co-founder of Multicoin Capital, noting that early development of the Solana Mobile Stack enabled the partnership.
In response, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko commented, “99/100 founder-led initiatives are foolish. Doing nothing is equally foolish. That seems to define the difficulty of startups.”
Additional markets are anticipated to follow the U.S. launch, subject to regional regulatory requirements, according to the official release.
