Santino Marella has officially inked a new contract with TNA Wrestling, ensuring his continued presence in the promotion. The Director of Authority confirmed the agreement during his appearance on The Johnny I Pro Show, putting to rest speculation about his future as the company approaches year-end.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the extension, Marella noted that TNA President Carlos Silva approached him to discuss the renewed commitment. The decision to stay was influenced by the company’s recent advancements and strategic direction, according to Marella.
Santino Marella Explains Reasons Behind His Contract Extension
“Carlos is very proactive, and he talked to me last week and said, ‘Of course, we’d love you back.’ So, I signed for another year with TNA,” Marella stated during the podcast.
He further emphasized the positive trajectory TNA has maintained since moving to AMC, citing the company’s momentum as a driving factor in his decision. Marella also commended the collaborative spirit of the locker room, underscoring how the current direction felt strategically sound.
“It’s the right time — the direction we’re going, the momentum we have. Ever since we started with AMC, it’s been incredible. The locker room continues to shine,” he elaborated.
Addressing recent criticisms, Marella suggested that heightened negativity online reflects TNA’s growing visibility and the resulting scrutiny. He drew parallels to early doubts surrounding Bound for Glory, asserting that the company has consistently met or exceeded expectations.
Beyond his contractual renewal, Marella remains central to ongoing storylines, including his role as Director of Authority. His on-screen rivalry with Daria Rae, TNA’s Director of Operations, stems from their opposing approaches—Rae’s business-centric stance versus Marella’s fan-focused philosophy.
“Being an authority figure, of course, we have an issue with Daria Rae, who’s imposing her authority,” Marella explained. “She’s business-oriented, but I think I come from the perspective of fans more, and we butt heads a little bit. It makes for entertaining TV.”
Marella has also been involved in narratives with his daughter, WWE NXT star Arianna Grace, particularly regarding her conflicts with Channing Lorenzo.
With his contract secured, Marella can focus on navigating TNA’s evolving landscape without the pressure of an impending deadline. His ongoing feud with Rae ensures continued dramatic tension, alongside another individual attempting to assert control within the organization.
