How To Play Wordle
Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five‑letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:
- Green: The letter is in the word and in the correct spot.
- Yellow: The letter is in the word, but in the wrong spot.
- Gray: The letter is not in the word at all.
Apply these clues to narrow down possible solutions. A new word is presented each day, challenging solvers worldwide. Competitive Wordle allows participants to pit their attempts against friends, family, the Wordle Bot, or even the author. Rules for Competitive Wordle are detailed at the end of this article.

Wordle Bot Analysis
Each day I consult Wordle Bot to evaluate my performance. You can review your own results using Wordle Bot here.
BRAIL did not bring me close to the solution, while STORE reduced my remaining possibilities from 264 to 24. HUMOR, however, solved it quickly (as it often does). With only one word left, MORPH (meaning change) was the inevitable answer.

Once again, my score matched that of the Bot—zero points—keeping our June totals unchanged: Erik: -2 points; Wordle Bot: 5 points.

Today’s Wordle Etymology
The term “Morph” originates from the Greek “morphē,” meaning “form” or “shape.” It entered English through scientific vocabulary such as “metamorphosis” (“change of form”). As a standalone verb, “morph” gained popularity in the late 20th century to describe a smooth transition from one form to another.
