- Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohamed Al-Jabir confirms funding arrives as Houthi attacks target Yemeni resources and infrastructure
- Grant designed to bolster government liquidity, fiscal stability, and citizens’ purchasing power
Saudi Arabia has delivered a fresh tranche of budget support totaling SR224 million ($59.66 million) to the internationally recognized Yemeni government, Ambassador Mohamed Al-Jabir announced Thursday on X.
The infusion comes amid heightened hostilities, with Iran-aligned Houthi forces intensifying strikes on Saudi cities and energy installations. Al-Jabir stated the aid was authorized by the Saudi leadership in response to a formal request from Aden, citing “terrorist attacks by the Houthi militia” against the resources, property, and interests of the Yemeni people.
Channeled through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, the grant aims to reinforce government cash flows, underpin fiscal policy, and protect the purchasing power of Yemeni citizens.
