RIYADH: On Sunday, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, and Türkiye condemned the continuing Houthi assaults against the Kingdom, notably the strikes on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that resulted in civilian casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure.
In a joint communiqué, the four nations—referred to as the R4 Group—characterized the attacks as a “blatant violation of international law” and a “flagrant breach” of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
They warned that the strikes represented a dangerous escalation endangering Saudi security and civilian safety.
The group expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and pledged backing for all lawful measures the Kingdom undertakes to repel the attacks, deter future threats, and prevent recurrence, in line with the UN Charter and international law.
It held the Houthis accountable for the attacks and any fallout that jeopardizes regional and international peace and security, demanding an immediate, unconditional cessation of hostilities.
Earlier that day, a fire erupted at Terminal 4 of King Khalid International Airport after an unidentified projectile hit the passenger terminal, the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen reported. Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority subsequently confirmed injuries and stated that damage assessments and safety inspections were underway.
The incident followed a missile strike the previous day that claimed 13 lives and left over 300 people wounded.
