ISLAMABAD — Saudi Mais Co. for Medical Products (SMMP) has entered a partnership with Pakistan’s Amsons Vaccine and Pharma (Pvt.) Ltd. to introduce its medical devices into the Pakistani market, with both companies working toward establishing a joint manufacturing facility in the country.

The collaboration formally launched this week, initially bringing Saudi Mais intravenous (IV) cannulas and IV burettes to local health care providers. Founded in Riyadh in 1994, SMMP supplies products compliant with international standards across Saudi Arabia and the broader region.

As part of the rollout, SMMP clinical trainer Dr. Ahmed Al-Saidi is conducting hands-on training sessions at multiple Pakistani hospitals to familiarize medical staff with the new product line.

“We are planning to set up a joint production plant in Pakistan very soon,” said Salman Rashid, SMMP’s Operations and Business Manager for Pakistan. “A senior delegation will visit next month to finalize a memorandum of understanding with Amsons.”

Amsons, the country’s largest vaccine supplier, views the agreement as the first phase of a broader partnership aimed at technology transfer and domestic manufacturing. SMMP opened a liaison office in Lahore last year as part of its market entry strategy.

Rashid noted that local production would mark a meaningful step toward reducing Pakistan’s reliance on imported medical supplies. SMMP Chief Executive Dr. Allam Al-Barazi emphasized the company’s long-term commitment to the Pakistani market, describing the alliance with Amsons as a matter of pride that would expand access to quality medical products for health care professionals and patients alike.
