Netflix’s teen psychological drama Bet has added Saweetie to its cast for season two.
The “Icy Grl” rapper will appear alongside series lead Miku Martineau as production begins on the show’s sophomore season in Toronto.
Bet centers on students at a boarding school for the global elite, where underground gambling shapes the social hierarchy. Martineau plays Yumeko, a mysterious transfer student whose gambling skills draw the attention of the powerful Student Council, while her hidden mission for revenge threatens to disrupt the school’s entire status quo.
Saweetie’s role has not yet been revealed. The new series adds to her growing acting résumé, following her previous appearance on Starz’s BMF.
The live-action series is adapted from the Japanese manga Kakegurui. It debuted on Netflix in May 2025 and drew 2.4 million views in its first week, spending three weeks on the streamer’s English-language top ten list and reaching the top ten in 77 countries.
Saweetie has worked with Netflix before, having hosted the 2021 sex-positive comedy special Sex: Unzipped.
“There’s a psychological edge to the world of Bet that immediately brought me in and the character instantly called to me,” Saweetie said. “The fact it’s rooted in manga, this Japanese storytelling tradition that’s been shaping street culture and fashion for years, is what sealed it. Bet, like me, doesn’t play it safe.”
The cast also includes Ayo Solanke, Eve Edwards, Clara Alexandrova, Hunter Cardinal, Anwen O’Driscoll, Aviva Mongillo, Ryan Sutherland, Laura Afelskie, Rami Khan and Bryn Samuel.
Bet is produced by Boat Rocker Studios and was developed by Simon Barry, who directs alongside Jacquie Gould and James Genn. Barry also serves as an executive producer with Boat Rocker Studios’ Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier, Jon Rutherford and Nick Nantell.
The series is among the latest Netflix productions to shoot in Toronto, joining titles such as Vladimir, Something Very Bad is Going to Happen, Wayward and the upcoming season of Ginny & Georgia.
