Scotland Announces Starting Lineup for Canada Clash in WXV Series

Scrum-half Rhea Clarke will earn her first start as Scotland begin their WXV Series campaign against Canada in Edinburgh on Saturday.

Evie Gallagher returns to the openside flank position, marking her first appearance since last year’s World Cup.

She will partner captain Rachel Malcolm at blindside flank, with Becky Boyd selected at number eight for the match which will be broadcast live on BBC ALBA and BBC iPlayer (kick-off 16:10 BST).

Shona Campbell is named on the left wing, joining experienced teammates Rhona Lloyd and Chloe Rollie in the back three.

Glasgow fly-half Ceitidh Ainsworth and Exeter full-back Katie Buchanan, both uncapped, are among the replacements named by interim head coach Dave Butcher.

Second row Adelle Ferrie is also on the bench, having replaced the injured Alex Stewart in the squad.

World Cup runners-up Canada hold a strong record against Scotland, having won seven of their previous eight encounters, including a 40-19 victory in last September’s tournament group stage.

Following their match against Canada, Scotland will face New Zealand and Australia in subsequent test matches.
