Securing his first DP World Tour victory in 14 years—and effectively saving his career—would be a huge relief for most golfers.

As Scott Jamieson contemplated ending his 14‑year title drought at the Nexo Championship in Aberdeenshire, the 42‑year‑old Scot unexpectedly received a video call from President Donald Trump.

It has become a tradition for the U.S. President to call the winner at Trump International Golf Links immediately after their triumph.

Jamieson, a Glasgow native, was the latest recipient of the call, continuing a recent series that included fellow Scot Grant Forrest the previous year.

“He was very complimentary and it sounds like he was actually watching it,” Jamieson told BBC Sport Scotland. “He said he was following along, so it was really cool—he is the President of the United States.”

Jamieson’s ability to maintain his composure over a tense finish highlighted his strong resolve.

The Scot carded a final round 67, rallying from three shots behind to defeat England’s overnight leader Matthew Jordan by two strokes.
