The Pakistan Aviation Authority (PAA) confirmed that the search for the crew of a cargo aircraft that crashed into the Arabian Sea remained underway, noting that further wreckage had been recovered.

In a statement, the authority reported that the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency were continuing deep‑sea search and rescue operations.

“The search for the crew members is proceeding with full vigor through the coordinated use of aerial and sea‑borne assets,” nevertheless it added.

“Additional components and debris of the ill‑fated aircraft have been located and retrieved for subsequent analysis by the investigation team,” the statement read, promising further updates as operations continued.

On Tuesday night, a K2 Airways Boeing 737‑400 cargo aircraft traveling from Sharjah to Karachi disappeared from radar about 300 km west of Karachi as it approached Pakistani airspace. The pilot had reported a navigation issue and requested assistance from the area control center before the loss of contact.

The flight carried five crew members, including two pilots, two engineers and a support staffer.

After 12 hours of deep‑sea search and rescue activity, wreckage was located 53 nautical miles (98 km) south of Ormara port on Wednesday.

K2 Airways is a privately owned airline headquartered in Karachi, established in May 2018 following the issuance of a government charter license.
