DragonSpeed will return to the GTD Pro class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for the season‑finale Motul Petit Le Mans, adding Sebastien Bourdais to its lineup.
The Cadillac factory driver, who is set to leave Hertz Team JOTA’s FIA World Endurance Championship effort after the season, will partner with regular DragonSpeed racers Giacomo Altoe and Casper Stevenson in the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R.
Bourdais arrives at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta with momentum, having won the 10‑hour Endurance Cup round twice overall. This race marks his first GT start since the conclusion of the Chip Ganassi Racing‑run Ford GT program in 2019.
The announcement was made through DragonSpeed’s social‑media channels.
“Receiving the call from DragonSpeed and being invited to race with them truly made me smile,” Bourdais said.
“I have always loved Petit Le Mans and enjoyed considerable success there. This will be my third different class in as many years, and I am eager to see how it compares to my previous experiences.
“Competing in GTD Pro with a Corvette represents two new challenges, but everyone I’ve spoken to praises the Chevrolet as a superb car.
“Our goal for the weekend is to help DragonSpeed, Elton, Henrik, Giacomo, Casper and the entire crew secure a victory at Petit for GM!”
The event will mark Elton Julian‑led team’s first GTD Pro appearance since finishing runner‑up in the class championship last year, following a strong campaign with a privateer Ferrari 296 GT3 that took the fight to factory‑backed entries.
“Petit Le Mans remains one of my favourite venues. I am ready to close the season with a classic, both on and off the track,” Julian commented.
“Over the years DragonSpeed has fielded some of the greatest drivers of their generation, whether in endurance or single‑seaters. Sebastien belongs in that group.
“When we decided to contest the Pro class to conclude our GT effort in IMSA, we needed an ace—and we found one. With him, I know exactly what we will get, and it is precisely what we require.
“It is time to line up against the top contenders; we won’t bring a knife to a gunfight. Everyone at DragonSpeed and GM is excited to see him extract the performance from the Z06 GT3.R.”
