Nearly all Senate Democrats voted in favor of a measure directing the State Department to report on Israeli settler violence in the West Bank, reflecting the party’s increasingly critical stance toward Israel.
The resolution ultimately failed by a 51-47 vote on Tuesday evening. Had it been adopted, it would have compelled the State Department to furnish Congress with regular reports on settler violence and human rights concerns in the West Bank.
