In a recent interview on the Delivering Happiness podcast with Nick Turturro, WWE star Seth Rollins reflected on his collaboration with The Rock at WrestleMania 40, where he teamed with Cody Rhodes to face The Rock and Roman Reigns in the Night 1 main event.
Rollins expressed strong admiration for The Rock, describing him as a mentor and noting the wrestler’s willingness to return to WWE despite limited personal benefit. Below are selected highlights from his remarks.
Seth Rollins Recalls Experience Working with The Rock at WrestleMania 40
Participating in a WrestleMania main event with The Rock was an extraordinary experience. The Rock, who had been retired for more than a decade before I joined WWE, surprised me when he returned to help shape our storyline for WrestleMania 40, leading to a tag‑team match that felt both unexpected and exhilarating.
Insights into The Rock’s Preparation Approach
What impressed me most was observing his preparation process. As a performer who has succeeded in both wrestling and Hollywood, he returned to WrestleMania for us. I was eager to learn his motivations, his storytelling methodology, and how his broader experience translates to our match. Getting to know him personally was invaluable; he invited my family and me to the Hawaiian premiere of Moana 2, where we enjoyed the resort and the event together. My daughter, then four years old, called it the coolest experience of her life.
The Rock’s Character and Generosity
When you meet someone like The Rock, he isn’t obligated to return to WWE or involve his family, yet he does so without expecting any benefit. His actions reflect genuine kindness rather than a calculated return. He is simply a good person, and I view him as a mentor.
Following a rematch on the latest WWE Raw, Seth Rollins defeated Bron Breakker and earned a place in the upcoming King of the Ring tournament, where he will compete against Je’Von Evans, Ricky Saints, and Talla Tonga in a Fatal 4‑Way first‑round match on the June 8 episode of Monday Night Raw.
The Rock will reprise his role as Maui in the live‑action adaptation of Moana. The film is slated for a July 10 theatrical release. He is also set to return as Dr. Xander “Smolder” Bravestone in Jumanji: Open World, which will hit theaters on December 25.
