Spire Motorsports and its associates reveal that Kiwi-born driver Shane van Gisbergen will return for a sixth start with the organization in the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. He will drive the No. 7 Chevrolet for the final Friday night race of the season at Richmond Raceway, continuing his partnership with Spire Motorsports Associates LLC.
The New Zealand native, who has previously competed regularly in the Australian V8 Supercar series, will have HendrickCars.com as his primary sponsor for his debut race with the No. 7 truck. Van Gisbergen joins a distinguished list of drivers who have competed in the No. 7 Chevrolet, including the late Kyle Busch and Connor Mosack, Sammy Smith, Corey Day, Rajah Caruth, and Chase Elliott.
Van Gisbergen will be participating in his third oval race season, having led 49 laps during the Cup race at Richmond and finishing in third place during his previous Truck Series event at North Wilkesboro Speedway. In addition to his third oval appearance this season, he also led up to 49 laps during last year’s Cup race in Richmond.
A five-time champion across two motorsport disciplines, Van Gisbergen has been a rising international star under the NASCAR spotlight and has achieved top-ten finishes in multiple events in 2024 and 2025. However, his performances in his recent run at Dover Talladega Speedway have been less impressive for the 2026 season.
In his other high-profile NASCAR outings, Van Gisbergen has driven in the Daytona 500 and Coca-Cola 600. In the Daytona 500, he secured an 11th-place finish, while his prior best holding a sixth-place position at the Coca-Cola 1400. He has also competed in the race, earning a 20th-place position in the 2021 Daytona 500.
