Shiba Inu has surged past the $0.0000057 mark, yet its token-burning metrics have plummeted, highlighting a stark divergence between the asset’s price appreciation and its supply reduction efforts.
The broader cryptocurrency market is experiencing a robust recovery, spearheaded by Bitcoin surpassing the $83,000 threshold. Capitalizing on this momentum, SHIB has rallied over 6% in the last 24 hours, reaching a multi-week peak of $0.000005720.
For context, SHIB last traded at these levels on August 25, when it hit an intraday high of $0.000005739. Consequently, this recent rally has pushed SHIB back above the $0.0000057 threshold following a period of significant weakness in recent weeks.

Token Burn Rate Plummets 90.69%
However, SHIB’s price recovery has not translated into enhanced burning activity.
According to data from Shiburn, the Shiba Inu burn rate declined by 90.69% over the past 24 hours. During this timeframe, the community successfully removed only 6.72 million SHIB from circulation, valued at roughly $37 at current prices.
This figure represents a severe downturn from the more than 72.18 million SHIB burned during the preceding 24-hour period.
Notably, a single transaction accounted for the entirety of the 6.72 million SHIB burned during this period. A Coinbase user initiated this transaction over 14 hours ago, and the burn contract has registered no subsequent community burns since.
Consequently, the latest data indicates a significant slowdown in SHIB’s burn activity, contrasting sharply with its improving market performance.
Large-Scale Burns Occur Less Frequently
Shiba Inu has historically relied on token burns to reduce its circulating supply. Furthermore, activity surrounding Shibarium has previously contributed to substantially higher burn volumes, including instances where billions of SHIB were removed from circulation.
However, burns of that magnitude have become increasingly infrequent. The last time the community destroyed over 1 billion SHIB in a single day was July 27, 2026, when more than 1.27 billion tokens were burned.
The recent burn of 6.72 million SHIB therefore stands in stark contrast to the significantly larger totals recorded during periods of elevated burning activity.
Weekly and Monthly Burning Metrics Decline
Furthermore, this slowdown extends beyond the past 24 hours.
Shiburn data indicates that the community burned 111.26 million SHIB over the past week, representing a 20.24% decline in weekly burn activity.
Monthly figures reveal an even steeper drop. Shiba Inu recorded approximately 460.58 million burns over the past month, marking an 86.72% decline in monthly burn activity.
Therefore, while SHIB has benefited from renewed buying pressure and the broader cryptocurrency market recovery, its recent burn data tells a contrasting story. The latest figures demonstrate that the pace of circulating-supply reduction has slowed considerably, even as the token stages a price rebound.
