Shin Bet Chief David Zini Meets Exiled Fatah Figure Mohammed Dahlan During UAE Visit Amid Ongoing Security Coordination]
Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) chief David Zini met with former Fatah official Mohammed Dahlan during a visit to the United Arab Emirates, according to KAN News on Tuesday morning.
Dahlan has been living in exile in Abu Dhabi since 2011 following allegations from Mahmoud Abbas that he was behind the death of Yasser Arafat.
The Shin Bet declined to comment on the matter, stating, “We do not comment on the chief’s schedule.”
This follows earlier reports this month by the Wall Street Journal that Mossad chief David Barnea visited the UAE multiple times—in March and April—to coordinate security efforts during Operation Roaring Lion.
KAN News also reported that Zini’s UAE visit coincided with ongoing security coordination between Israel and the UAE throughout the conflict.
Earlier reports in 2024 indicated that Dahlan was under consideration by U.S., Israeli, and Arab officials as a potential leader for Gaza after the Israel-Hamas war.
At present, the technocratic committee overseeing Gaza is led by Ali Shaath, a former Palestinian Authority deputy minister with experience in the West Bank administration, including roles as deputy minister of planning and international cooperation and undersecretary at the Ministry of Transportation and Communications.
Shaath has also chaired the Palestinian Housing Council, headed the Palestinian Ports Authority, and served as an advisor to the Palestinian Economic Council for Development and Reconstruction.
