Dan Greaney, the Simpsons writer best known for his inadvertent prediction that Donald Trump would become president, has announced his own bid for the White House in 2028.
Greaney revealed the campaign in a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday. Dressed in a large grey wig and a blue robe that played off his nickname, “The Prophet,” he declared himself a “progressive Republican” and outlined his platform for national revitalization.
“The United States was founded on the principle that all men are created equal,” Greaney said. “But politicians, billionaires, careerists, and cowards in both parties now turn their backs on this truth, seeking only money, power, and security. In America, the government must work for everyone, ensuring democracy, accountability, and prosperity for all. We must restore this vision.”
He then humorously revealed that, contrary to his earlier remarks, he is indeed a lawyer. “I can be a politician. I’m running for president,” he declared, adding that his campaign slogan would be “America for all.”
The original inspiration for Greaney’s campaign came from the 2000 episode of Simpsons titled “Bart to the Future.” In that episode, Lisa Simpson becomes the first female president of the United States and confronts a severe budget crisis inherited from President Trump. Greaney later described the episode as a warning to America, emphasizing its relevance to the country’s current political climate.
