SINDH – Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday ordered strict action against those responsible for allegedly gouging out the eyes of a female camel following severe torture in a Tharparkar village.
“Cruelty against voiceless animals is unacceptable under any circumstances,” the CM stated, condemning the incident as a grossly inhumane act.
Shah also instructed the Tharparkar livestock department to provide immediate veterinary care to the injured animal and requested a detailed report from the Mirpurkhas DIG.
MPA Surendar Valasai called on local police to take swift action against those involved in the case.
Camel owner Sarang Neelo Meghwar filed a complaint alleging that a group of men from the Rind community attacked the animal without provocation in Baghal Rind village, located in the Dahli taluka. He brought the severely injured camel to the Chachro Press Club on Monday, accompanied by his children and female family members.
“They began beating the camel and continued with inhuman treatment until both eyes were gouged out at the behest of an influential figure from their community in a neighboring village,” Meghwar alleged.
The incident sparked protests by local civil society activists in Chachro and significant online reaction across social media platforms.
Meghwar claimed the suspects are threatening his family with severe consequences if they pursue police action or approach authorities.
He appealed to government officials and animal rights organizations to investigate the matter and hold those responsible accountable.
