On the August 31 edition of Monday Night Raw, Penta defeated Rey Fenix to win the World Heavyweight Championship number one contender’s tournament finals.
This marked the first time that the duo formerly known as The Lucha Bros faced each other in a WWE ring.
Looking ahead, WWE may want to explore whether Penta and Fenix can recapture the chemistry they displayed as opponents once they begin teaming together again.
Here are six potential directions for Penta and Rey Fenix as The Lucha Bros in WWE.
6. Return to Lucha Libre AAA as a duo
At the tail end of 2025, Penta and Rey Fenix were scheduled to reunite as The Lucha Bros for a Lucha Libre AAA event.
However, Penta suffered an injury that forced him to be pulled from the bout and subsequently replaced by Rey Mysterio.
Then at AAA Ola de Calor, Penta and Fenix teamed with Dragon Lee to defeat Los Perros Del Mal.
Now, the timing feels right for Penta and Fenix to reunite as The Lucha Bros and make good on the match they were supposed to have last year.
5. Rey Fenix stands in Penta’s corner against Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship
As previously mentioned, Penta had to make his way past his own brother Rey Fenix in the finals of the World Heavyweight Championship number one contender’s tournament.
Since winning the World Heavyweight Title, Roman Reigns has reunited his family within The Bloodline.
While “The OTC” has largely handled his business in the ring alone, there is a chance that The Bloodline could have Reigns’ back in this upcoming showdown.
When he faces Reigns on the September 14 WWE Raw, Penta should have his brother Fenix right by his side to ensure the contest remains one-on-one.
4. Rey Fenix moves to WWE Raw to team with his brother full-time
Since signing with WWE in 2025, Penta and Rey Fenix have remained separated on different brands.
While Penta has established himself on Monday Night Raw, Fenix made his way to Friday Night SmackDown.
Both men have found success on their own, with Penta being a former Intercontinental Champion and Fenix currently holding the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
Their recent match could signal WWE’s intention to pair them up by having Fenix make the move to the red brand to reunite with Penta full-time.
3. Lucha Bros WWE in-ring debut against Ethan Page & Rusev
If WWE is considering the union of The Lucha Bros, there are a number of intriguing opponents for the company to choose as their first challengers.
Looking at WWE Raw, the new alliance of Ethan Page and Rusev could make for a formidable threat to Penta and Rey Fenix.
Both Page and Rusev are no strangers to Penta, having challenged for the Intercontinental Championship during his reign.
If Fenix makes the move to Raw, The Lucha Bros may have their first opportunity to impress against Page and Rusev sooner rather than later.
2. Going after The Vision’s WWE World Tag Team Championships
WWE has recently been focused on rebuilding the tag team division on both Raw and SmackDown.
On the red brand, The Vision’s Austin Theory and Bron Breakker currently hold the World Tag Team Titles.
Despite Theory and Breakker’s success as two-time champions, this pairing pales in comparison to what The Lucha Bros can accomplish together.
Penta and Rey Fenix pursuing The Vision’s gold should make for a highly compelling title bout down the line.
1. Going to war with The Bloodline
The upcoming World Heavyweight Championship match with Roman Reigns could lead to Penta and Rey Fenix having to deal with The Bloodline.
Reigns, The Usos, and Jacob Fatu have been running roughshod over WWE Raw in 2026.
The Lucha Bros could find themselves in the main event scene following Penta’s World Heavyweight Championship match.
Joining the likes of LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, Royce Keys, and OTM, The Lucha Bros might be knee-deep in all the drama in the main event picture on WWE Raw following the September 14 episode.
