SEOUL — By concentrating on high‑bandwidth memory (HBM) as a way to avoid the volatility of the commodity semiconductor market, South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix has secured a dominant position in the AI era. The company’s close partnership with Nvidia has produced unusually high profit margins and allowed it to overtake rival Samsung in the lucrative HBM segment.
