George Cheeks, Co-Chair and Chief Content Officer of Skydance Television, has shared an internal memo with staff outlining the strategic vision for the newly merged entity, which integrates key assets from Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery.
On the first day of the integration, Cheeks described the occasion as the “start of a new chapter” for the combined organization, emphasizing the formation of a robust television division.
The Skydance Television division now encompasses major properties including CBS, Warner Bros. Television Studios, CBS Studios, Paramount Television Studios, CBS News, CBS Sports, TNT Sports, and Warner Bros. Discovery Sports.
In the memo, Cheeks highlighted that the merger has assembled “a remarkable collection of television brands, networks and studios, backed by some of the most talented teams in the industry.”
While Cheeks did not provide exhaustive details on the organizational structure, recent reports indicate that Channing Dungey will expand her role to oversee Paramount’s cable networks such as MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, and others, in addition to her previous responsibilities.
He described the Skydance Television group as an “unmatched mix of networks, studios, platforms and programming genres,” underscoring the diverse portfolio.
Cheeks noted that the individual studios will continue to operate independently for now, with a focus on creating franchises, premium originals, and unscripted hits that appeal to broad audiences.
Specifically, he lauded CBS as a “cornerstone” of the operation, praising its enduring strength and significance.
The sports divisions will be led by David Berson, heading CBS Sports, marking a shift with the departure of TNT Sports chief Luis Silberwasser.
Cheeks also emphasized CBS News, under editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, as “one of the most important brands in journalism,” delivering news across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms.
The cable portfolio now includes over 50 channels, with Cheeks praising the “breadth and quality of programming” as unrivaled in the industry, spanning highly watched, acclaimed, and award-winning content.
Acknowledging the uncertainty during this transition, Cheeks addressed staff concerns, promising more details on leadership and strategy in the coming weeks, and expressing optimism about the opportunities ahead to build a stronger future together.
